Why We Started This
Most people think gardening is hard. We think they've just been given the wrong guidance.
Back when we launched thechinesecalligraphist Ltd, we noticed something frustrating. Lots of folks wanted to grow their own vegetables on an allotment plot. But the information available was either too vague or way too technical. RHS guides are brilliant, don't get us wrong — but they weren't written for actual beginners trying to figure out what works in their specific corner of the UK.
So we built something different. We created resources that actually speak to hobbyists. Not agricultural experts. Not people with ten years of experience. Real beginners who want to understand what works in England's climate, what thrives in Scotland's shorter growing season, and what actually produces results in Welsh gardens.
That's what we do. We've curated seasonal planting calendars for each region. We've translated complicated growing techniques into steps that actually make sense. And we've done it without the flowery language or empty promises.
